Iran Khartouran wildlife refuge protects Asiatic cheetah

Khartouran wildlife refuge in Iranian province of Semnan is home to one of the largest group of Asiatic cheetahs, aka Iranian cheetahs.

Currently a very small number of this critically endangered species living in Iran.

In 2014, the Iranian national football team announced that their 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2015 AFC Asian Cup kits are embossed with the Asiatic cheetah to raise awareness of the endangered animal.
